Lucky and grateful

On many occasions, I would be able to find some excuse why I was so unlucky in life: not being as financially well off as some of my friends and past coworkers, not having the best family relationships at times or being divorced.  Today, however, after buying some pizza and salad Pagliacci‘s, a local pizzeria that I think is one of the best in the world, I find myself thinking I’m really lucky.  I’m happy to be back here in the Seattle area.  My fortune extends to having incredible parents who are healthy and being one proud dad of two incredible sons.

I was walking home through the University District here near the University of Washington.  I really like the U District.  I like all the restaurants.  I like the atmosphere and it was an incredibly beautiful sunny day in Seattle. Not only is the weather incredibly beautiful here in the summers, but the air is clean.  Earlier, I rode from my place in the U District along the ballard locks out to the west part of the Burke Gilman trail and it was spectacular.

I don’t know what to say other than how fortunate I am and how lucky I feel today.  It was just an overwhelming feeling.  I thought about all my great friends who live here; and coincidentally enough, many of them who have moved out of the area have all come back here as well.  It’s just an incredible place to hang your hat.  I don’t know why anyone else would NOT want to live here.
